FAQs

See answers to the questions our customers often ask us.

What are your opening hours?

Currently, our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm and Saturdays by appointment only. To make an appointment please call us on 01424 774497.

Do you have a showroom? How do I find you?

Yes, you can use the sat nav code TN33 0LL. Go down Netherfield Hill, over the flat bridge, then take the turning on the left-hand side. There are two big dark green posts with a sign that says Beech Farm – turn in here.

How long will it take for installation to take place after I accept your quote?

It depends on what you choose. Generally, worktops can be installed seven days after templating. Headstones are made to order and can take up to 12-16 weeks depending on the complexity. Some memorials can be made sooner.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we generally ask for a 50% deposit to confirm your order and so we can order your material in.

Do you use traditional techniques or machines?

Both. We use traditional hand carving as well as a sandblasting machine for machine-cut letters. We template using Cordex and we cut the worktops using machines.

How long will my template / installation take?

Approximately three hours in total.

How long does it take between templating and fitting?

Between five and seven working days.

What happens if I stain/damage my worktop?

We can advise on how to clean any stains or one of the team can come and see you. If required, we will send the supplier to try and remove the stain. Some damage will be covered by warranty, depending on the products you select, but please note that your warranty is voided if the worktop has cracked due to a hot pan coming into direct contact with it.

What thicknesses do the worktops come in?

20mm and 30mm (sometimes 12mm with certain stone).

Do I need to treat my worktops after you fit them?

No. However, you should have granite worktops re-sealed every year.

We also offer a dry treat service which enables you to have a 15-year warranty against staining – we are an approved, accredited dry treat applicator.

Do you supply sinks?

Yes, we use sink companies called 1810 Sink Company/Sinks and Things.

Are you VAT registered?

Yes, we are. Prices will be quoted with VAT clearly stated.

Do you offer any guarantees?

Yes, the exact warranty will depend on the product. We will advise you further during our discussion.

Can I get samples?

We can provide quartz samples. Some granite and marble samples can be seen in our showroom and borrowed. We can arrange for you to see slabs with our suppliers if required.

I can’t see the granite I want in your showroom… Can you get it for me?

Yes, we can source near enough any granite.

Can I pick the exact piece of granite I want?

Yes. We recommend that customers visit our suppliers, whereby you can reserve particular slabs from certain blocks.

What can I use to clean my worktops?

Just a plain anti-bacterial solution is perfectly fine, or a CIF cream. We always issue a cleaning and maintenance guide to all our customers once the worktops have been installed.

Regularly wipe your worktops with warm soapy water, CIF or an anti-bacterial or granite cleaner, dry with a paper towel, and then dry again with a soft, microfibre cloth to buff any smears away. We recommend you only use products that have been specifically formulated for granite worktops (such as Method Daily Granite or granite cleaners from supermarkets). Never use any product that contains bleach or acidic ingredients, like lemon juice or vinegar, as these could harm the granite.

Do you charge to come and visit me?

Kitchens: We do not charge to come and visit, but we try to get some rough costings to you first before a visit using your worktop plan, sizes and photos.

Memorials: We are more than happy to visit your home to discuss the memorial with you, and can bring brochures, photos and samples with us.
